He Said He Beat Me Out Of Self-Defense
My ex-cop finance’ was arrested for ABHAN (Assaut and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.) I was trying to end our relationship and he ’snapped’ and beat me, putting me in the hospital. As we prepare for trial, the Attoney General’s Office states my perpetrator admits to beating me, but states he did it out of self-defense. I am 5’5, 120 lbs. and my perp is 6’, 240 with 32 years Law Enforcement. At the time of his arrest, his Glock-40 was loaded with a round in the chamber which he had used after the beating stating he had nothing to live for and went to the bathroom to kill himself, which he did not.
My question is……..how can this type of defense be justified? He clearly lost his temper and beat me. I never touched him nor made any aggresive moves towards him. Because he was a cop, will this defense really explain what he did that night?
